Q&A: Has anyone out there ever heard of any outcomes for ureter surgery for an English Springer Spaniel? Mine needs?

she is 8 years old and is dribbling urine. I took her to a specialist and they said sometimes the black and white springer spaniels ureters which lead to the kidneys can be in the wrong spot and cause dribbling.

Has she always dribbled urine?
Ectopic Ureter (the ureters being placed wrong) is a congenital/genetic defect — it is something that shows up at birth…not when the dog is 8 years old.
I would get a second opinion, if I were you. This vet doesn’t sound too on the ball. Your girl probably has some sort of age- or infection-related incontinence issue — NOT Ectopic Ureter.
Really? A specialist told you this?? She would not have made it through 8 years of life without dribbling urine if she had EU — if the ureters are routed incorrectly, they always have been.
Again, get a second opinion.
I have a 12 year old dog with EU. The surgery was not successful for her. She’s “leaked” her whole life.
