What are the symptoms of a kidney stone?
Today I have been having what I would call bladder pains. They occur right around my pubic line and last only a few seconds. They aren’t making me keel over or anything. They are mainly irritating, kind of like a short spasm, like a mild short, stabbing pain. I will get one and a few hours later I get another. At one point, I had about four in a row. Last night, I had a pain on my right lower back. Could I be passing a stone? I have had an attack like this before with a bladder infection but had buring while urinating , and urgency to go. This time I haven’t had any other symptoms but started to drink cranberry juice and lots of water as a precaution. I will wait a day or so before I decide to go to the doc because otherwise I feel great. What do you think it could be?

I think if you had a kidney stone you would know. You would have a lot of pain in your back and I mean pain, a fever and blood in your urine. Are you having mentrual cramps maybe?

I’m a Medical Scientist, according to your symtoms, i would say it is not a stone related problem. But i would say It is a UTI or cystitis. This is because passing of kidney stone will be able to feel the stone moving from the uretra and move to the bladder, when the stone pass through the ureters, you are able to feel an extream pain. Your symtoms shows cystitis, which is a form of bladder infection by bacteria. If your urine is cloudy, this might be the main causes. Please proceed to a doctor to have early treatment.

I get that quite often…or something similar. It’s very likely NOT a kidney stone…because a kidney stone will make you keel over and want to die…lol. The pain is unbearable. I had it for a few months, went to the docs and ER multiple times. I had ultrasound after ultrasound, and all sorts of tests done. Their medical opinion: just a weird thing. Doctors…I hate them. It was said that it was a kidney problem, which I took seriously as I have kidney disease in my family…but if you’re not in severe, consistent pain…don’t worry too much right now. But if it does keep up, go to the Docs just to be on the safe side.
P.S. The pain eventually passed on its own…but it was there for months.
